Hot Summer Night!

Hello from Arkansas! This picture was taken about an hour ago while I was in the pool with Kim and Kathy, at a barbecue at Kim and Chad's in Mountain Home, West Arkansas (correction -Central North Arkansas, I'm told). Today has been one of relaxation, cool tubs, carp fishing, barbecues and smiles. Jay, the angel that rescued me last night, has checked over the Bomb and pronounced her fit for the next leg of the journey, and all things loose have been tightened and battened down. Oil has been topped up, filter has been checked, and tomorrow its back on the road with Red Dog and Kathy as escorts as far as Eureka Springs, West Arkansas. I have been given clothes by the lovely Kim and the equally lovely Amy, to replace what got burned in yesterday's fire, and we've driven though some really amazing scenery today, including Norfolk Lake and the dam at its head. What a day! The ankle is rested now, too, and I'm raring to go.

By Crikey that water looks good! That must be the worlds greatest paddling pool! Good job you had a floatie to hold onto, otherwise you could have had a beer in each hand! Please tell me that, in the saddlebag fire, no Jack Daniels was lost? That would have been too tragic! I don't want to sound sensible or anything, but maybe you should carry a spare bottle of water for the rest of the journey in case you have to cool anything else down!

We've been having some rain here in Nelson, typical because it's the weekend and the week before was sunny as! And I would post a photo of my little honda, but (wait for it!) it's in the shop getting VIN'd. I know!!! Woo hoo!

Huzzah and big thanks to the kind folk of Arkansas who have looked after you. So what's the next destination? No, I don't mean in terms of shoe shopping!

Take care sweetie, keep your chin up (easier to get the beer in your mouth that way!). Love from Liz

And Bugs says about Max's misadventures ...

"you just gotta keep going, that's all. keep enjoying it, and take one leg at a time" I'm assuming he means leg of the journey, not leg of the turkey!

I've been reading the blog to him on a regular basis when I add comments! He reckons there are a lot of really nice people in America, and you seem to be bumping into all of them!

Rest assured that your Life's Journey will be remembered from my corner of the world and that I admire your strengh and courage. In addition, it speaks volumes when you meet someone and feel like you've know them forever. Thank you for taking time on your travels to break bread with us! Kim

Kim I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and Chad, and spending time with you. You have that kind of beauty in your face when you smile that always makes ME smile when I think of it. I won't forget you. The black and gold lace top you gave me has had a couple of outings, by the way, and has been treated to admiring glances from a few different guys!
